Niykee is still writing songs despite having been part of the latest turmoil. She was hand-picked to be part of this year's YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and he accompanied her on stage. Niykee is an enduring magnet for producers who are just beginning their careers. Many of the tracks she gets are a source of songs. She states that she can discern if a beat is a good one in less than five minutes. Then, a new song may pop up in her mind. I go out to my front porch and play my guitar, and then the lyrics just come and usually it's completed in less than thirty minutes. Niykee continues to develop her talents as a writer and lyrics writer. She says that the trauma she endured during her childhood can be a sources of ideas. It's hard to avoid the painful memories of my early years, particularly the loss of my sister. These memories are integrated into her music. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and gives it a deeper sense of meaning that I believe is extremely important. I would like to be able to hear my songs in 20 years and be proud of my words.
