Kellie was one of the most popular "American Idols", even though she did not win. Her birth name was Kellie Dawn Pickler June 28, 1986, at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. Her birth parents were the mother of 16 years. Pickler was a troubled child because of her drug and alcohol dependence, while her mother abandoned her at the age of 2. Morton had the opportunity to take custody of Pickler for two years. But, Pickler acknowledged that not everything was going well. "I remember that my mother as well as me cooking in the kitchen when I said, 'I wish God took me off as I'd prefer to not be alive together with you.' The woman pulled out a knife, placed it on top of the counter and told me, "Here, you do it." I was in fourth grade. The girl said "Of of course, I wouldn't ever have taken action about the incident. But it has left me with a lot emotional bruises." Pickler at the time, at the age of 12 was handed over to Morton's grandparents after the hearing. Pickler is adamant about her grandparents as the main influential figures throughout her life was raised by the grandparents. In the month of January, 2002, her grandmother Faye Pickler passed away from lung cancer. Her family was led by her grandfather. Pickler received her graduation diploma from the North Stanly, located in New London, North Carolina.
